age children (5 to 18 years) that attend a full time educational
institution eg. School, TAFE or University.
HOW
TO ACCESS DENTAL SERVICES ?
Contact the Central Intake
Centre on 1300 134 226.
You will
be asked some questions about your child and their dental
health. Your child s condition will then be assessed over
the telephone using a questionnaire.
• Please
have your Medicare Card available.
• Depending
on how urgent your situation is you will either be given an
appointment to see a dentist / dental therapist or told approximately
how ions you can expect to wait for treatment.
•
Please arrive 10 minutes before your appointment
to fill out any necessary paperwork.
•
The dentist / dental therapist
will tell you what treatment your child needs and the options
available. This information will help you make the right decision
about your child's dental health care.

DENTAL
RECORDS
A
confidential record will be kept of your child's
dental treatment. These records and any x-rays taken belong
to Dental Services, South East Health. The contents of the
record will only be released with your consent or where required
by law.
CONSENT
Your dentist
/ dental therapist will explain your child's treatment to
you before anything is done. If at any stage you have any
questions, please ask the dentist / dental therapist.
INTERPRETERS
Interpreters
are available free of charge to attend the dental appointment
or assist to make an appointment, although it may be difficult
to arrange an interpreter for urgent treatment.
An interpreter can be arranged for your first appointment
and the dentist / dental therapist vvill determine whether
an interpreter is needed for future appointments.
