The Art Gallery was just amazing. I really liked it. The visit was very worthwhile. It opened my sight.

A GREAT DAY AT THE ART GALLERY OF NSW

On Wenesday, 25th February 2004, Mr Lawrie, Mrs Goreta and her students went to the Art Gallery of NSW. Even though the weather was not very good, it began raining from morning, we still went to the city according to the plan.

We took a train at Beverly Hills Station to the city. We didn’t spend a long time on the train. Then we got off the train and walked to the Art gallery. After a while, we arrived at the Art Gallery and left our umbrellas and our bags and then we began our visiting.

The Art gallery building was very magnificent. We went to the second floor. There were a lot of paintings and photographs. The artists of the paintings were from different places of the world and some of them are very famous, such as Van Gogh. We looked around. Some of the paintings were so funny and some of them were just beautiful. They all had different features.

After that we went o the third floor where the Aboriginal works were displayed. The works were awfully colourful. The Aboriginal people painted on bark. Each painting involved a story, but we couldn’t get the sense of them except the Aboriginals themselves. The paintings were covered by mystery, so many people want to know about the Aboriginal culture.

Next we got to another place where were exhibited Chinese and Japanese works. China had a very long history, about 5000 years. Chinese works consisted of carvings and landscape paintings. The contents of carvings were around Buddhism.

Then we visited the works which were from hands of students of Year 12. Their ideas were original and strange. They showed different sense from other part of exhibition.

Eventually, we chose postcards for ourselves, whatever we liked respectively.
The Art Gallery was just amazing. I really liked it. The visiting was very worthwhile. It opened my sight. What a great day!

HOW YOUNG HE IS!

25th February, Wednesday. It was a rainy day today, but it was a sunny day in the Art Gallery.
The first picture in my mind was Nude in a rocking chair.The drawer of this picture is Pablo Picasso. Just feel, I liked it. I liked it for no reason. But this was not my favourite one. Come on, let me show you which one I liked the best.

He is 87 but is still a child at heart. It’s this youthful quality of old age that the drawer wanted to explore in his body of work.

Norman Holden, who is the Grandpa of the drawer of these 29 pictures. He is 87 but is still a child at heart. It’s this youthful quality of old age that the drawer wanted to explore in his body of work. You won’t think how old he is, you just would think how young and cute he is! The technique of painting is good, too. For example, in one of these pictures the man was playing on a swing. He swung out of the picture frame. It looks like he is coming out. There is a happy face as the child with him. These pictures bring us back to childhood.
How young he is! Can you guess his real age from these pictures?

THE WANDER IN NSW ART GALLERY

Our class with our teacher Mrs Goreta together with Mr Lawrie, the art teacher, went to the NSW Art Gallery last Wednesday,25th February 2004. It is located on the Art gallery Street in the city. To get there we caught the train in Beverly Hills station to St. James.

We left school at 9.30 am .it was supposed to be 9.00 but some of my classmates and I arrived in school a little late because our bus was late and also it was raining very hard. Our journey only took 30 minutes so we arrived there at 10.00 and still it was raining very hard and the big problem was we had to walk far from the train station to the Art Gallery It was a long walk and we were very tired and wet when we reached there..

I really can’t believe the work in the Art Gallery and also the work of the students in Art Express. They are very artistic and if you are an art lover you will like it.

First of all when we were ready to go Mrs Goreta told us the rules there and, of course, we followed. Then we started wandering around and saw beautiful, superb painting, sculptures, statues, old figurines, cloths etc. We also went in the place they call Art Express where you could see some of the works of students from different schools, their works or masterpieces.

Then after that Mrs Goreta and Mr Lawrie allowed us to roam around to see what will attract us, but if we already saw what we liked to just wander around. Of course I saw what I liked. It attracted me so much more than the paintings. It’s the statues of ancient times of many countries. I also had a picture of one of the statues here. Shuai, my classmate, took it.

We met in one place so we can go altogether to eat. That’s the time I’d been waiting for. But we walked again from there to McDonalds. Then we went back to our school.

I really can’t believe the work in the Art Gallery and also the work of the students in Art Express. They are very artistic and if you are an art lover you will like it.

AN ART EXCURSION

Last Wednesday it was raining the whole day but we still went on an excursion. It was an art excursion and we were visiting the NSW Art Gallery.
We took the train there. Following our teachers, Mrs Goreta and our art teacher, we walked to the Art Gallery. There was a large crowd of students beside the front doors. They were all from high schools. First we listened to the staff to tell us something important. After that we followed our teachers and started our visiting.

The whole gallery was divided into many sections. Each section had many different kinds of art productions. The aboriginal art productions were strange. All the colours on their pictures were got from the nature. The modern art productions were beautiful, also you couldn’t understand some of them very well. In fact, many pictures are not about anything, they are just pretty patterns, but some pictures mean a lot of things. In one section there were some old things from China and Japan, like china and old swards from Japan. We saw some art productions made by students in one section. Most of them were interesting and unusual. Some pictures were drawings of people. They were really realistic.

That art excursion was very interesting and we had seen how art works look like in Australia.

ART GALLERY

On Wednesday,25th February,2004, my class went to an excursion with our teacher Mrs Goreta and our art teacher Mr Lawrie. The place where we visited is called the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The day was a rainy day. We met at school first and then we went to the train station together. Mrs Goreta gave some tickets to us and we got on the train and we got off the train at St James. We went to our goal on foot. The rain was very heavy, so that when we reached the Art Gallery, all of us drenched our body.

How lively the picture was! I couldn’t believe it was painted, it seemed like the computer printed it.

When I entered the art Gallery, I found that it was really magnificent and beautiful. We stayed at level 3 first and then Mrs Goreta told us to visit at this level and we walked around by ourselves, we would meet afer 15 minutes. The first picture that attracted me was called “Superb & Solid”. It was painted by Howard Arkley .How lively the picture was! I couldn’t believe it was painted, it seemed like the computer printed it. When all of us went to level 2, I found the second picture that I liked. Its name is “SCEGGS Darlinghurst” and its painter is Kelly Suhr. It was painting 17 places so it was very funny and wonderful. After we looked at the level 2 we just cursory visited some places because we felt very hungry. We left Art Gallery soon.

I liked this excursion because I could see many beautiful pictures.
